Samaria Gorge Tour
Surrounded by the White Mountains, Omalos plateau is located 38km south of Chania at an altitude up to 1,100 meters. The plateau is frequently covered by snow in the winter. The National Park of Samaria Gorge starts here. The Gorge is 16 km long and it became a national park in 1962, particularly as a refuge for the rare kri-kri, a goat endemic to Crete only.

Entrance of Samaria Gorge – Xyloskalo
Xiloskalo is the starting point for the thousands of visitors of the famous Samaria Gorge at 1250m. In Xyloskalo you will see the forest guard kiosk and the information center about the White Mountains and the National Park of Samaria. You will issue the entrance fee at the kiosk.
The hiking distance of the gorge is 15 km, from Omalos Plateau to the beach of Agia Roumeli, the distance of the gorge though is 13 km long. Depending on your pace it will take you 5-7 hours to cross the gorge. From Agia Roumeli beach you will take the ferry to Sfakia where we will be waiting for you or visit Loutro at Sfakia for watersports and cretan traditional cuisine.
